Dennis Fritz was born in Cherokee, Iowa.
He received his B.F.A. from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Dennis apprenticed at Charles E. Cooper Art Studio, NYC.
He studied under Ruben Tam at the Brooklyn Museum Art School.

He taught painting and drawing at Parsons School of Design from 1968 to 1987.
In 1990-91 Mr.Fritz was artist-in-residence at Marywood College in Scranton,

Dennis was the Grand Prize Winner in the National Portrait Competition sponsored by ‘The Artist’s Magazine’. The competition attracted several thousand entries from throughout the country.  

As a member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) in the 1980’s and 90’s he won the first Peter Helck Peer Award.

His work is displayed in national and international collections of distinction.

Mr. Fritz’s portrait subjects and non-portrait commissions include numerous corporate executives, educational leaders, government officials, distinguished members of the medical and legal professions, the Arts and royalty.

Dennis Fritz was a long time member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS). Yearly he exhibited his automotive art at Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance, Rochester, Michigan and also at  Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, California. Dennis is a car enthusiast and has owned several classic cars over the years.

He and his wife Christine live in a home they designed in Millerton, New York, an area of inspiration for many Fritz landscapes.

They have two sons, Timothy and Jonathan, who are musicians, two talented daughters-in-law, Karen and Rosalba and three magnificent grandchildren, Leonardo, Lucrezia and Zane.
